Pupil of his father and of the Royal Academy of Arts at The Hague.
He was one of the founders of the circle of engravers in the artistic society 'Pulchri Studio'.
In company of Ph. Sadée, he made a voyage to Dusseldorf. He worked in the provinces of Drenthe and Noord-Holland. His works can be found at the 'Gemeente Museum' (Municipal Museum) of The Hague.
