Joseph van Goyen-Cornelis van Goyen
There isn't any hard evidence that Joseph van Goyen (father of the artist Jan van Goyen) and Cornelis van Goyen shared a family relation, but there are quite a number of indications:
- The two persons lived in the same town of Leiden at the same time.
- They both used the name 'van Goyen'.
- They both had a son named Jan.
- Joseph's profession was shoemaker. Cornelis' profession is unknown but he had a grandchild (Cornelis Jansz) who was a shoemaker.
- The best estimation of Joseph's year of brith is 1565, according to the years of birth of his children and grandchildren. The most probable year of Cornelis' birth is about 1570.
- They both were related to the van Egmond family.
- They both were related to the van Warmond family.
- They both were related to the family of Simon de Vlieger.
Anyway, this link doesn't add a great deal to the family tree, as there already exists another link, by Elisabeth Capiteyns, Havinck Jans Steen's wife.
