Saint Fabiola
after a painting (1885) by Jean-Jacques Henner, a french artist, born in Bernwiller (Haut-Rhin) 5th march 1829 and died in Paris 23rd july 1905.
The whereabouts of the original painting are unknown although some sources claim it is in the Louvre Museum.
Fabiole or Fabiola († 400) is a IVth century Roman noblewoman, considered a saint by the Roman Catholic church.
She was a member of the illustrious Roman Fabii family. Fabiole founded an hospital on her own expenses, distributed her belongings amongst the poor, visited holy places and died in 399 or 400.
Jérôme de Stridon wrote about her life. Her nameday is december the 27th.
